Luiz Carlos Bambirra Torres received a Ph.D. degree and a Master in Electrical Engineering (2016), both from Federal University Minas Gerais, Brazil, in Neural Networks. His B.Sc degree in Computer Science was obtained from the University Center of Belo Horizonte in Graph Theory (2010). He received a Post-doctorate from UFMG (2017) through Brazilian agency CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological). In 2018, he received a postdoctoral degree (2018) in international cooperation with the ONLAB (Optical Networks Laboratory) laboratory of the KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) of Sweden. Since 2019, he has been with the Computer and Systems Department at Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), where he is now an Adjunct Professor and Head of the Machine Learning Research Group of UFOP.
As a researcher, he has co-authored many book chapters, journals, and conference papers. He is now an associate editor of the journal IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems and reviewer of the journals: Journal of The Franklin Institute (Springer), Neural Processing Letters (Springer), Evolving Systems (Springer), Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (Elsevier), IET Computer Vision, IET Generation Transmission & Distribution, IET Image Processing, and IET Communications.
